Somali food mixes East African, Arab, Indian, and Italian influences, and the seafood restaurants along Lido Beach are among the busiest in the country.

Try bariis iskukaris (spiced rice) with goat or camel meat, suqaar, fresh grilled fish, canjeero for breakfast, and sweet spiced shaah tea. Italian-influenced pasta dishes are common in Mogadishu.

Cafés and juice bars are popular meeting places in the evenings, especially along the seafront in Mogadishu and in central Hargeisa.
