The US dollar is used for most transactions alongside the Somali shilling. Mobile money services linked to local telecom operators are accepted almost everywhere, from hotels to street stalls.

Commercial banks in Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Garowe, and other major cities provide accounts, international transfers, and card services for residents, visitors, and businesses.
